Hot Holiday Tech

This time of year is one for commerce. The shiniest, newest, coolest gadgets are always the first to go from the shelves. This year in particular has been one for innovative gadgets and amazing buys.  From wearables to autonomous driving vehicles, the list below includes my picks of the hottest tech of the season:

Samsung 16TB SSD

One of the largest SSD hard drives ever made. It can hold up to 16 terabytes of data. It uses NAND flash chips instead of spinning platters.

Latest Smart Phones

Two to point out are the iPhone 6s and the LG G Flex 2. The iPhone 6s is latest iPhone on the market with “3D Touch” and 12MP camera. The LG G Flex 2 has a curved 5.5” full HD P-OLED screen, which is ergonomically designed to feel as comfortable as possible in an individual’s hand.

Garmin Varia

Adding high-tech radar display to a bicycle; alerting riders when vehicles are approaching from behind.

Smart Watches/Wearables

Apple Watch, Pebble Time Steel, and Samsung Gear S2 are among the most talked about smartwatches of 2015.

Personal Drones

Two drones to highlight are the DJI Inspire and the Axis Aeries Drone. The DJI Inspire shoots 1080p video at 30 fps and 720p at 60 fps and can be controlled either by a controller or on the DJI Go app on your smartphone or tablet. The Axis Aeries Drone is about the size of a quarter and is fun to fly around with it’s bright LED lights.

Self-Balancing Scooters

What you have seen on the feet of Justin Bieber and Wiz Khalifa; this is as though a skateboard had decided to team up with a hoverboard to create this scooter. Just make sure you get a version from a reliable manufacturer, no one wants an exploding battery.

Augmented Reality Headset
Microsoft HoloLens
is the first fully untethered, holographic computer that enables high-definition holograms to appear around your physical environment. It has the potential to be used by surgeons or astronauts. The only version available now is for developers. Good thing we have developers in my firm so I can play with one.

3D Drawing Pen

The 3Doodler2.0 which is the world’s first 3D drawing pen.

The Ring (the device, not the thriller movie)

The Ring is the world’s smallest input device. It can do things, such as play music or take a selfie with just a quick flick of a finger.

Humanoid Robot

ChihiraAico humanoid robot looks and speaks like a real human. She is a prototype that Toshiba is developing that will help create “effective communication between humans and non-humans”

Autonomous Driving Technology

Two cars that have made headlines in 2015 were the Google car and Mercedes F 015 Luxury in Motion. The Google car has currently driven over 1 million miles and is currently on the streets of Mountain View, California and Austin, Texas. The Mercedes F 015 Luxury in Motion is a forerunner of a mobility revolution. This self-driving car revolutionizes the travel experience.
