Harnessing the Power of Quantum Science

The growing gap between existing cybersecurity solutions and the sophistication of hacks is well known and has been widely publicized. Instead of just incremental catch-up activities, there is a push toward strengthening the overall security foundation within organizations. One such approach is through a new generation of security innovators who are harnessing the power of quantum science, to solve some of today’s hardest security challenges. The leader of this is recent Security Innovation NetworkTM (SINET) winner, QuintessenceLabs.

Today, most current solutions rely on encryption keys that are generated by standard computer algorithms. These keys appear to be random, but can be vulnerable to cyber attacks. Through measurements of truly random quantum effects, QuintessenceLabs generates the most secure cryptographic keys without undermining performance, and is the only company capable of delivering full-entropy keys at high rates of up to 1Gbit/s.

Most importantly, QuintessenceLabs combines its quantum key generation into a foundational solution, integrating powerful and interoperable key and policy management with Hardware Security Module (HSM) level key store to fully enable strong enterprise-wide encryption. Optional encryption modules are being rolled out to deliver a range of end to end solutions suitable for the enterprise, cloud, and shared environments.

QuintessenceLabs, quantum cybersecurity pioneer, recently announced its expansion into the European security market. The first phase for QuintessenceLabs is launching operations in the U.K., complementing its firmly established footprint in North America and Australia.

On November 9-10, as part of QuintessenceLabs’ U.K launch, they showcased their quantum cybersecurity solutions at IA15, the U.K. government’s flagship event for cybersecurity and information assurance leaders across central government, the wider public sector, industry and academia.
